A friend of mine joked that school is a prison that keeps us doing labor that is useless. In a way, he has a point. Why do schools recommend taking AP classes if they don’t help us in the future? Even though counselors and teachers say colleges won’t look too hard at your class choices, everyone knows that taking AP classes will increase your chances of getting into the right college. School is a draining experience, yet my parents seem to recall their high school years with a sense of ease, like it wasn’t that hard. Is it just how time progressed and left the world with a bigger focus on education and a disregard for the well being of their students? Students are constantly bombarded with tests and exams that push them to the edge, yet in the end, won’t really matter? School is a complicated issue that I can’t fully understand.
